What is she on about. Lewis was not on course to win and bottas did under perform but was given short straw from start with having to sacrifice qual for Lewis benefit. Wish they would stop getting botas to help Lewis unfairly. Merc have seriously fast car and possibly still better than red bull especially on power. Wish team orders were not so biased.

@Bruce Wayne#Tumbla Well just throwing Ham would've done domething he never did on the rsce is hardly an acceptable argument, however facts sector 2 was the fastest for RB coming right on the back before the straight would've pretty much guarantee a pass, again that was the trend durong the whole race, Ham even passed Charles without DRS, if you don't wsnt to see it, whatever, Perez still won.

@Joe Luis no way Perez would have passed him, Hamilton would have found more tenths because that's what he does..Max couldn't pass him on track despite having a faster car.

Lol, Max and Checo just had better pace, Ham did well to keep up, tbh, but even if Ham had taken turn 1 chances are he would've lost a lot on sector 2 and Per very close on the straight to pass him, nobody seems to realize that this time his Merc was the 3rd fastest car

On the Baku restart, Checo pulled suddenly toward Lewis and beautifully triggered Lewis' memory of Verstappen's similar terrifying moves in recent starts. Pirelli with the same nonsense excuse if debris! If so why did the inner tire (anti clockwise track) have the debris, would it not be logical for the outer tire to pick it up (if ever). And again if it was debris why on two different cars with different setups at the same speed on nearly the same spot did both right rear lefts fail, why not the tire that gets the most wear or any of the other three, why exactly the same tire?. Clearly to see Pirelli has failed in this instance. Same bla bla as Imola last year.

I am very happy that Ham did not capitalize on Vers misfortune, because that would have been extremely unfair. In fact Ham crashing out by partly his own doing did some justice to the race. Ver had won that race on merit and was driving superbly, I would say "as a champion". Contrary to Max Verstappen Lewis Hamilton only makes BIG mistakes... or... a small mistakes with enormous consequences. Everything is easy when you are easely winning everything everytime for 7 (seven!!) years in a row. Hamilton is not on Hamiltons level anymore but.. Max is. ...Can you repeat the question??? The magic button worked, it prevented a gigamonumentual points-loss for Max.

In any case there is a point that Ham is somewhat dropping the ball and might be in a comfort zone after just beating Bot to the wdc, it doesn't say anywhere that he doesn't deserve his wdcs or he is bad, the arising point of him heading downhill is not something crazy to say, time will tell, chill fanboy

Checo totally earned it He kept Lewis in check the whole race (with Lewis enjoyed his tow and had access to DRS while Checo had none of them), while Max cruisin it easly at the front. He also forced Lewis to make mistakes during the restart, which lead him to overshoot to the safety area and lose a lot of grounds. If anything the whole decision to restart the race would have greatly favored Lewis. If they decided to terminate the race after the red flag, Max would have won the podium, checo second, and lewis third. If they decided to go with safety car finish, Lewis will never have a chance to overtake Checo and retake the first position and win.

Mecedes has more fair contracts, but the lack of public support for Bottas this year has been weird. When Bottas is doing well, they seem to be bothered because it might slow down Lewis to get next all time record in something. When Bottas is having a bad day, it seems to be only his problem to find speed somewhere, nothing to do with car, even if Lewis is having same problems.

Perez is a great driver on his day but I think Max would be too consistent for him.. Hamilton is finding this out the hard way this season..without that DNF..Max has finished 1st or 2nd in his last 6 races...qualified top 3 in the last 16....and won 3 of the top 2 finishes.

Yes he could have over cut max but then he would have to give back position as Sergio's main role was to hold back Hamilton. During race I didn't notice this exactly but now that I think about it Sergio was able to hold back ham not because of no mistake but because he was not going all out for entire time and allowing max to increase his lead little by little without destroying his tyres.

This race hero is Perez he held off hamilton most of the race while loosing hydraulic pressure ( it was soo bad that the team didn't want him to up the temperature of the front tires by weeving). But still he used the last of the hydraulic pressure to try block hamilton that resulted in him making mistake with the breaks which helped max in driver's championship and redbull to have a lead in constructors championship.

@Ausrius Didziokas Hamilton said he did the mistake when Checo went for him at the re start, in a post race interview , the RB car was about to be retired before the re start, thats why on the re start Checo was already in trouble, not able to do much, he goes after Ham in a block bluff, and unbelievably enough, it worked. Check the interviews. Anyways Lewis will bounce back, but this one was exciting.

He was only losing the pressure in car at the end of the race not most of it. Plus, RB were decent in straight line and their race was better than Mercedes and even when Hamilton went side by he couldn’t get enough forward to overtake not enough in the corner to brake later to overtake, so Mercedes were not fastest enough to overtake.

He try to block Hamilton but couldn’t at the restart and he didn’t force Hamilton into he comfortable ahead. Hamilton didn’t feel he pressured the button, if he was forced into a mistake he would moved his hand and felt it touching and would have out braked himself but his braking was fine. Everyone makes a mistake so he was due it although it may have even been. Mistake just button in place and to easy to press without notice.

To me, the magic button issue is a direct result of pressure. Whatever the cause, Hamilton made a mistake. He doesn't make mistakes... but they are happening now and it's because of pressure. I love see Ham/Merc working for it.

Let’s not forget that Perez held off Ham all race. Ham was on the radio complaining that he couldn’t overtake him. The middle sector was a bust and on the straights Ham was unable to overtake Perez, Perez did well to defend him all race. Also Vettel and Gasly had an amazing race and well deserved. It was unfortunate for Ver but he will have plenty of more chances.

@Rafael Montero Exactly. There was no way Hamilton would have won. He will have other chances later, as the Mercedes is still a top car that will be better suited to more tracks than not, but with Max and Checo pulling together, and Bottas seemingly lost for answers, even the tracks that suit Lewis better might be tougher to win at for MB. Go Red Bull.

@Alan ALI 12 Lewis was on older tires than both Red Bulls, so if he couldn't get close enough to pass before the crash, he was not going to do it later. He struggled to keep up with Checo where and when it mattered. His only chance to take the lead was handed to him by Max's crash. And he buckled.

    3. Rafael Montero
      Rafael Montero
      2 天 前

@Alan ALI 12 actually there is no debate. Hamilton was consistantly out of DRS range except on the last straight, where he would go from 1.5 seconds to .8 and he would fail to overtake Perez. It amazes me how sometimes fans will go as far as making statements thinking they know more than the drivers. Hamilton was carrying front wing damage from the branch that fell on the track, the same one Max avoided by cutting a corner when he was behind Hamilton. Ham even pitted and no one in the crew realized he had front wing damage or thought that it was serious enough to put him at a disadvantage. When the cars where stopped by the red flag, the commentators did mention the front wing damage, but the truth is Hamliton has slipped into a comfort zone because he didn't have anyone to challenge him, he had the skills and the faster car for many seasons now. And now, it's not like that anymore. Now, the red bull is faster. Now, Max has an experienced teammate that is known for squeezing every ounce of power from any engine he's been put to drive. It's time for Hamilton to wake up, and that made him nervous. That's why he made the mistake he made. He finally has serious competition in the front. This should make for a return of a much more dynamic Hamilton and a thrilling battle at the front at last.

@Alan ALI 12 look at race again. He had DRS and everything. Every single lap, got it down to fractions and yet couldn’t pass him. I was really impressed by this too, it was the circuit as well that help, there was only one straight were Ham could beat him but couldn’t. That was the beginning and then Middle section Perez would loose Ham, but then Ham would gain but not pass....every single lap was the same thing.

Solid job by Perez but let’s not forget he still bottled it in qualifying, was on par with Max with the soft compound in the race but significantly lagging behind on the hards compared to Max. However, he maximised the team’s points after Max’s unfortunate DNF so kudos to him for that.

@tigerinsofia Sure you have some explanation as to why Hamilton was not capable of overtaking Pérez, yet Max was not able to overtake Lewis on track. Also Perez without being comfortable in that car has already outqualied Max once and has been quite close on race pace (on clean air, same tires) as the leaders. You're welcome to have your views but claiming unexisting biased **** as facts justs speaks wonders of your fanboy-ishm, try again.

The fact that his stop was delayed is overstated. He was delayed by 2 secs. Gap between Max and Perez was 4 secs. Max would have been on top again. Sure, there was a possibility that Perez would have overcut Max if he had stayed longer. Yet, Max completely destroyed Perez on the hard tyre compound and would have regained the position. Perez may have suffered from an injured car but Max was cruising and wasn't driving to the limit (both Horner and Marko admitted that). Perez is no match for Hamilton or Max, he should concentrate on improving his qualifyings to be on par with Bottas.

Bottled it when it mattered? Pretty sure "when it matters" during a race is... Mmm... Dunno... THE RACE!!!???? Which he won and could've ended up in front of Max had not been due to a long stop. Also during the race when Checo passed Charles it was evident that he would hold his ground behind Max, 4 the team? For Max? For a contract? Who knows, truth is Per had an injured car and kept Ham at bay during the whole race, even if Ham had passed him on the last sprint sector two, the straight and a massive tow would've made the difference to regain 1st... Facts? Per kept Ham behind, Was pretty much on Max' pace, both RBs were the faster cars, Per car was injured (some sources even say for half a race distance), also fact Max deserved the win, Ham didn't but was performing excellently until...
